Open-ended Play

Open-ended play is any type of play that allows children to play without rules and set boundaries. There is no right or wrong way with open-ended play.

Children have the opportunity to express themselves freely without limitations. Open-ended toys spark creativity and help children to use their imaginations. 

For example - a pikler can be used for climbing, but can also be used to build a fort or reading nook. It can be used as part of an obstacle course or the slide could be used as a ramp for toy cars, while the pikler triangle itself can be used as a "garage" for the cars. 

The possibilities are endless with open-ended toys.
